I taught and flew with Saudi Arabian Airlines in the 70s in Jeddah SA. We had on the King's Royal Flight 707-300 Executiv-Heavy "HZ planes" aircraft, in the ceiling, a real instrument that we called the Mecca Indicator. It was used to give the Direction to Mecca, at the appropriate prayer times. Being a former USAF Navigator that had trained AF-1 crews in the US I used a Lambert Conformal Jet Navigation Chart modified Rhumb line setting that approximated a true circle. Trouble was at Mach .65 cruise or at GSs of 500 mph+ changes were needed as we flew along. No one ever complained. Ron Barrett.
