Millard Kirk and Dan Hogan have suggested the simplfied formulae for calculating MPs. The formulae is sufficeintly accurate for praticle use. If you are looking for the same accurracy as that published in the nautical tables, especially for use in high latitudes, you will need to use a more complicate formulae. I have writen an JavaScript program to calculate MP and some other navigation calculations which are available from my web page at http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/2265 . By viewing the source, you can reduce back the formulae.
