As I understand your position Fred, criticism of books or anything else is fine. This would seem to be a fair assumption, given you have never objected to such critiques.
However, critiques of the criticism are beyond the pale? This seems neither consistent nor logical.
You are, of course, welcome to your assumptions. Just be careful about ascribing and projecting them as if they were facts. There is always the possibility that the assumptions you are relying on are incorrect in some or several ways.
