    4 = Toledo (Toletum in the Marseilles tables)
    41 = Alexandria
    58 = Alcufa.

    I have no idea what Alcufa is - if I try to use Damascus, Baghdad and Mecca as a rough guide to the latitude and longitude of "Alcufa", I just find nothing but desert.    I was wondering whether it was some kind of oasis town that's long dead on a route between Damascus and Baghdad.

    Dear members of the NavList Discussion Group,

    I have the following question.

    In the book "The geographical Lore..." of J.K. Wright, on the page 245 there is a map constructed from the list of geographical positions appended to the Paris manuscript of Raymond of Marseilles' "Marseilles Tables". But a key to the names represented by the numbers on the diagram is given in "J.K. Wright, Knowledge of Latitudes and Longitudes, 1923, pp. 87-88". I have not this article, but I would like to know what means the numbers 4, 41 and 58 on the diagram.

    Could you please help me.
    Thank you.

    Vladimir Uvarov
