You have to cock the averger by depressing the averger winding lever, not the actuating lever, that removes the shutter from the field of view. Also check that the filter knob on the left side is turned all the way to "clear" at the end of the knob's travel. gl On Aug 9, 4:33pm,wrote: > I have just purchased a kollsman periscopic sextant and when I look through the eye piece I can see the bubble but the view is only through the projection lens. I can see nothing through the periscopic lens - is the shutter blocking the view? I have pushed the actuating button to clear the shutter but this does not seem to work. Do I have to take off the LHS cover to clear the shutter? I have been led to understand that you should be able to take a celestial shot without operating the averager and hence there should be a clear view through the periscopic lens all the time. Any ideas? > Regards > Doug --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ NavList message boards: www.fer3.com/arc Or post by email to: NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
