It's odd how gratifying it is to do something like that: I've had similar experiences the past couple of years. I took sun LOP's from the deck of our power boat when we were running down and crossing the Northumberland Strait one beautiful day last year. We could see the land on either side, but I had a natural sea horizon all around. Too bad the moon hadn't been up as well. It becomes addictive. Congratulations, and thanks for sharing this.
