The official search has been abandoned; although the families are asking vessels in area to continue looking (from the ABC radio news this morning). From a photo I've seen over the weekend, the cat had a number of fenders out on the port side, despite being outside the Great Barrier Reef thus out in the open ocean. The sailors' families say the sailors were all experienced. Theories are being aired of piracy but the vessel wasn't pillaged eg; equipment such as laptop computers were left running on the table in plain view. The headsail was shredded, although that is consistent with being left to flog, maybe over a few days, in 20 knot winds. I don't have any solution to offer. It remains a mystery. I thought it was interesting that the authorities hoped to retrace the boat's movements since leaving port through analysis of the GPS, which was also found running. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ To post to this group, send email to NavList@fer3.com To , send email to NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
