The term "Latitude by account" means??

I've seen the above term iappear in print now and then, lately 3 times in my copy of Hansens Improved Ex-Meridian Tables, in examples section, Roman numeral numbered pages.
Does "latityude by account" mean or refer to DR latitude, derived by course and speed from a previous fix, or has it some other meaning. If this last is the case, what meaning please.
