Re: A wrist-watch with Nautical Almanac data?

Another simple option: off-the-shelf smartphones that you can buy for $30 without phone service normally have several gigabytes of available storage. Most have included pdf viewers, and if not, there are plenty of free options. You can load every navigation document published in the past 200 years including current almanac data and every sight reduction table you can imagine... for practical work, leisure reading, and bragging rights (don't under-estimate the power of bragging rights for navigation enthusiasts!). You can also load spreadsheets that will do all the work, like the suite of tools Peter Hakel maintains and described recently. And needless to say, that off-the-shelf smartphone is also a GPS receiver so it's a backup navigation device for the 21st century, too.
