    Yes, easy on a Mac. Use Key Caps (older OS) and you can press
    combinations of shift, option etc. and display every character in a
    font. Umlauts or accent grave? No problem. The provided font Symbol had
    a wonderful assortment as well.
    
    Just hard to believe Wintel makes it so difficult (especially so without
    an extended keypad) in a spreadsheet program!
    
    As some quip, with Apple you are not paying the big bucks for the
    hardware, you're paying for the OS. At least that use to be true before
    OS 7 IMHO. Which is why Macs are my work machines, and Windows is my
    play laptop.
