As glapook has perhaps revived some interest in aircraft sextants by kindly posting attachments of several manuals, I have updated my blog on one of the earliest American bubble sextant types, that patented by Luis de Florez in 1925, though it acquired Commander Byrd's name. The new post, at www.sextantbook.com , includes some more detailed photographs of one of the sextants, which is now fully restored. Look under "Aircraft sextants". If there is interest out there, I will be happy also to expand my blog post on the Bureau of Aeronautics Aeronautical octant Mark I Mod 4.
