The recent thread on the Russian landing at Nagasaki led me to do some web surfing. I found a fascinating history of the Imperial Russian navy from its beginnings even before Russia was a country through WW I and the revolution. As is often said, "history is written by the victors." The Russian view of the disaster of the Russo-Japanese war of the early 1900s to be particularly interesting. And, yes, the Russian expeditions to Japan are mentioned. http://www.neva.ru/EXPO96/book/book-cont.html Lu Abel
