    History of the Russian Navy
    From: Lu Abel
    Date: 2005 Nov 20, 09:23 -0800

The recent thread on the Russian landing at Nagasaki led me to do some
web surfing. I found a fascinating history of the Imperial Russian navy
from its beginnings even before Russia was a country through WW I and
    the revolution.

As is often said, "history is written by the victors." The Russian view
of the disaster of the Russo-Japanese war of the early 1900s to be
    particularly interesting.

And, yes, the Russian expeditions to Japan are mentioned.
