According to the obituary of Donald Sadler, who was director of the Nautical Almanac office in the UK at the time of the almanac's bicentenary in 1967, there was once an exhibit known affectionately as a "sadlerium". As reported in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, Sadler "developed the concept of a hands-on exhibit (sometimes refered to as the 'sadlerium') to illustrate the taking of a lunar distance, but the realization by the National Maritime Museum did not stand up to the hard use that it was given." Sounds like it broke. Did anyone see it when it was a functioning exhibit at the NMM? -FER 42.0N 87.7W, or 41.4N 72.1W. www.HistoricalAtlas.com/lunars
