Dear Joel,
as I haven`t seen the
sextant certificates that you`re mentioning, I can`t really give a good answer.
But I would guess that they had “Deutsche Seewarte” printed on
them, which was the precursor of the “Bundesamt für Seeschiffahrt und
Hydrographie”, the German Hydrographic Office, up to 1945. They were
testing sextants and issueing certificates, as far as I know – but I
could check.
Regards, Wolfgang

Wolfgang,
Thanks for the correction.
I never thought to take pictures of them, but
there were some sextant certificates that had Deutsch
Seefahrt. printed on them.
Can you explain its meaning.?
Thanks,
Joel Jacobs
