Nautical Almanac Concise Method Attached is an excel spreadsheet (also opens under gnunumeric with linux) that reproduces the two tables in the Nautical Almanac and can carry out and plot an LOP calculation, rounding to tabular accuracy. An interesting aside (and only that!) is a demonstration of how a double interpolation at the first table entry can give an assumed position that makes the H and Z from the second table entry exact; requiring no corrections. The plotting was helpful in de-bugging and understanding what was happening. As usual no guarantees. Seems to be working. Be careful at high altitudes and latitudes. May be a few other pathological cases where various parameters approach multiples of 90 degrees. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ NavList message boards: www.fer3.com/arc Or post by email to: NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
