    Several of the U.S. towers have been demolished, with video of the
    event posted to YouTube. Many of us in the GPS community urged the
    U.S. government to retain Loran-C as a viable backup to GPS. The
    Europeans are being more prudent (and possibly the Russians, too) in
    retaining Loran-C and even fully upgrading to eLoran, which the
    British have done. See
