Many thanks Frank. I had seen some of the disussions a few years ago before I was a member of Navlist.and Gary LaPook and others helped me with a homemade Bygrave. I've now seen the light, joined Navlist and thanks for the reading list which should keep me busy for months!
You are correct to question the accuracy figures. My Bygrave generally gives spot on results and worst case 1-2' out. The Fuller is generally accurate to 4-6 decimal places with same results as a calculator.
I'll read up the material you sent before starting anything new! Interesting though that Chichester says he made too many mistakes with log tables and less with the Bygrave.But his solo flights required rapid multiple calculations while flying and taking sextant shots.
