Boy, this sure generated a lot of responses. It seems to me that if the computer code simple calculates the answers for the two possibles fixes, using A+B and A-B in Eq. 7.5d, then let the navigator pick the closest fix, you will have covered all possible combinations of the locations of the GPs and ship. This makes an eloquent program with quite logical inputs and outputs. After all the are two fixes in the solution.
