Interested parties, if any, could also read chapter 15 of Buckley's Wind Fall, or possibly the entire bok, which some would likely find worth while.

Otherwise, your description of the program sounds similar to the way Buckley describved it, my understanding thereof being as follows.

Input GMT. Input DR position. Input height of eye. Input Hs. The navigator could also input bearing/heading of sextant shots. Check order of inputs. The program, according to Buckley would produce LOP for each body shot, identify that body or bodies and provide a fix.

The entire routine sounded, to me, pretty neat, though today, it might be obsolete, and there was also the problem of the program's almanac, not going beyond 1989, unless it had been extended.

As to whether or not WhatStar, a DOS based program would reun on today's computers, my machine, several years old uses Windows XP, Service Pack 3. I've been told that such a machine can run an MSDOS program. It seems however, that WhatStar has disappeared.
