    It's a fun story, but this is an urban legend. It's in the same family as the story about the Chevy Nova selling poorly in Spanish-language countries because "Nova" looks like "No Va" which means "Doesn't Go" (never happened -- the Nova sold just fine). These are basically business-school parables. They encourage people to think by using tall tales about people who didn't think.
