Isn't this getting a bit far afield from navigation?

I'd suspect that the problems of interference may well be in the details of the construction of the transmitters in the Light-squared frequency range, and receivers in the GPS - the degree of sensitivity and bleed-through - so the devil may lie in details like that.    Of course it doesn't mean that decision making isn't prone to politics and corruption, but if the details involve a question of engineering standards, the issue gets a bit more cloudy.

Greg, as reported on the Media Matters link you provided:

"And, even so, "I can assure you Gen. Shelton's testimony was his own, supported by and focused purely on documented tested results," she said.

But the episode, first reported by The Daily Beast, created new headaches for troubled Reston-based LightSquared. Lawmakers were further agitated when Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski decided not to appear at Thursday's subcommittee hearing. The FCC has been accused of rushing to give a provisional green-light to LightSquared. [The Washington Post, 9/15/11]"

It appears Fox News was not the first to report this story. BTW, what is the Daily Beast? is it left wing or right wing?

If Hitler said "it's raining outside" you can't jump to the conclusion that it is NOT raining just because it was Hitler who made the statement.
