Thanks for your question. My GPS is a 6 yr old Trimble Ensign.
I have been carefully monitoring the position of my house all day today and
have had no glitches or problems of any sort. Even when I switched on this
morning it aquired satellites in 15 min which is a lot faster than when I
    first bought it.
A discussion group on all aspects of satnav I recommend subscribing to is the
    RIN website at .
Incidentally I use a Texas Ti-82 calculator, which has a graphics display, for
Sight Reduction. It has a good statistical proceedure built in. For example,
I can tabulate a series of repeated sights and then find the least squares
fit equation, using linear or quadratic regression, and display the derived
plot on the screen together with the observed sights (so that I can reject
    any bad sights).
I have written programs for converting these equations into an Intercept and
Azimuth for plotting a Position Line on a chart.
I use the 5 year " Compact Data for Navigation and Astronomy by HM Nautical
Almanac Office" for GHA and Dec etc data. It is cheaper than 5 copies of the
1 year Nautical Almanac and takes up less space. However it takes a bit of
    getting used to.
If anyone is interested in these programs I be happy to copy them over.
However they are specific to the Ti-82,
Regards to everyone, Keep up the good work
