    Hi Alan

You asked: is a bidding war likely?

    The answer is simple: kinda.

eBay does not truly operate as an auction house.  Its not who has the highest bid.  Its who has the highest bid, when the auction ends.  This encourages "bidders" to snipe bid, wherein bids are timed to occur one or two seconds before the auction ends.  It does you no good to bid in the middle of the timed auction, that merely raises the price.

All the real bidding for this item will occur in the last 10 seconds.  That's when the sniping occurs.  Unsuccessful bidders will often try to extend the auction by privately offering the seller more, after the auction ends.

The reason that I supplied my pre-auction estimate of expected price to be realized is such that NavList board members who want to succeed at this auction know where their snipe bid must be.
