Hello an Happy New Year,
there are replicas out there, for sure. After WWII, the Soviets dismanteled the fabrication facilities of C.Plath and started to produces the SNO-M sextant (a 1:1 copy, perhaps using the oroginal moulds for the frames). These sextants were quite cheaply available after the end of the cold war. Some fraudsters faked the C.Plath insigia onto the SNO-M sextants. Most of these fakes were made to fake WWII sextants, as some people are paying high prices for WWII stuff with the original Kriegsmarine emblems on it.
