Are you sure it was a 1984 Volume II? As I understand it, there is no 1984 Volume II - the 1984 Volume I is associated with the 1981 Volume II.
Another good source of used nautical books for us locals is the Book Barn in Niantic. For nautical books, it is the downtown branch, not the one down the road. I have never left that place without something for my nautical bookshelf.

I happened to spot a nice clean copy of the 1984 Bowditch 2 volumes in marine consignment downtown mystic yesterday morning if anybody is interested. They are in a stack on the floor near the front windows.
I already have my late father's copies home in my seachest, so I didn't ask for a price although I compulsively flipped through one and at a glance looked in great shape.
Every once in a while in these offbeat places, there included, I have found some nice keepers.
I still like the feel of a real book in my hands, can't quite adapt 100% to the electronics age.
