Re: 2102-D star finder or other?

    Everyone,

Thank you for your ideas and suggestions. The 2102-D sounds like the better approach and a simple planisphere too. Previously, I had downloaded and laminated a "star finder" from Sky & Telescope magazine which being very simple, helped a lot.

A good selling point of the 2102-D, I read, is that if you took a navigator who learned his art in Chicago and placed him in the South Pacific who could easily figure out what stars he was viewing.

Being that I'm on land most of the time I'll probably have to  make one of those really fancy first surface mirror AH and get away from the "water dish-in-the-glass-tent" AH I use. Shooting stars is really tough with that AH. (I just don't feel like spending that much on precise levels).

    Sam L.
