I’m not sure what SR stands for, so I could be way off, but I decided to do this using the ‘dinosaur method’ with AP3270 Vol1 just to see what I got. I only had 1980 Epoch, so I had to guess P&N as 8’ on 083. I got GHA Aries from the USNO site and assumed a square grid at 11S. I came up with 10.55S 178.55E. I’ve not had time to check it, but it seems pretty close to Stan K’s answer. Only one ‘Gotcha!’ observed; latitude increases downwards in the Southern Hemisphere. I suppose you’re allowed to get it wrong once.
For the camera experts, I’ve cleaned the outside of my digital camera, but those ‘thumbprints’ won’t go away. Could it be the magic photo chip inside is dying? Is the simplest solution just to buy a new camera off eBay? DaveP
