I'm trying to figure that out now, so I'm interested in what you said.
I was taught to just estimate the center of the cocked hat, and make your mark there. The sum of least squares (Almanac page 282) and the average of intersections should be the same on a small triangle if you throw out the bad sights.
Both methods will fail if someone doesn't use good judgement and throw out the bad sights. I've seen some programs that derive a fix with no plotting sheet. I don't think that's a good idea.
NavPak Pro (Windows version) just plots LOPs' then you can move the cursor to where it looks good and get the FIX, evading the whole issue of a mathematical FIX. This is probably the best solution for the Android version, then I could add the sum of least squares as an option.
I think just moving the cursor to where it looks good is the most practical for me since it is the same as the traditional methods I learned.
