6x telescope does not fit AstraIIIb snuggly

I ordered a 6x telescope for my AstraIIIb sextant. Celestaire sent a Weems & Cassens scope. The hold-down knob on the bolt that secures the telescope to the sextant frame does not screw down all the way to grip the telescope securely, so it is quite loose. The tab that the hold-down knob pinches is 1/16" thinner on the 6x telescope than on the standard 3.5x telescope that came with the AstraIIIb, and the bolt for the hold-down knob is not threaded far enough. The expert at Celestaire who can resolve this is away. Does anyone have any insight to this problem? Maybe I could just build up the empty space with a couple of stainless washers? Thanks.
