It just occurred to me that some might ask how a careful pilot like me would have failed to confirm the operation of the ferry tank prior to jumping off to cross the pond. The explanation is simple. Another pilot had picked up the plane in Wichita, taken it to Minneapolis to have the tank installed and had then flown it to Newfoundland. Then, apparently while looking out over the Atlantic, he "changed his mind." He left the airplane on the ramp and took the airlines back home. When I got out to Newfoundland the plane was waiting for me with all the tanks full so I didn't have any chance to test fly it prior to the crossing. I wasn't really happy with this since I would have liked to have checked the fuel and oil consumption but there wasn't anything I could do about that. I never had any idea, however, that the ferry tank would be such a problem. gl --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
