Dear Ed,
I was looking all those optical paths' schematics - with all those pentaprisms, mirrors, etc, - wondering why SO complicated? All this gimmickry (I think) is there exactly to make a bubble more user-friendly, or, "tilt invariant".
You say on your A-12 the star and the bubble go in the opposite directions. Is this when you tilt it sideways (to the left|right) or is it when you rotate it within the vertical plane as well?
