    I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this. I have been "under the weather", as they say, for a couple of days. Finally recovered, I think.

    Short answer: there's no connection between my celestial navigation tooling and the interesting old ABC tables that you're talking about except that both of us used the first three letters of the alphabet... because they are the first three letters of the alphabet suggesting an ordered process with three initial items to compute and also, secondarily in my case, because there's a hint of "easiness" in those letters. 

    Right now, I need sleep, but I will get back to you tomorrow with some further details.

    I do absolutely encourage you and others to continue discussing those old ABC azimuth tables. Thank you for bringing them up! We should probably split it off as a separate topic thread (don't change anything now; I'll look at that in about ten hours).
