A slight correction, I wrote: Yes, you can get + and – d. When declination is the same name as the latitude, d appears in my complete edition of AP3270 Vol 3 to be positive.
That is true in AP3270 Vol 3, which deals with latitudes 40 to 89 and declinations 0 to 29. However, it’s not always true in AP3270 Vol 2, which deals with latitudes 0 to 39, and where it’s possible to have latitude degrees less than declination degrees. In Vol 2 , the Green Band, the ‘same name, d is +’ rule doesn’t always apply, so be sure to follow the d + or - sign in the latitude page. DaveP
