My experience with the accuracy of the models I made is that it is consistently within two minutes of arc and most often within one minute. This is consistent with what others have written about the instrument, including Bowditch, article 2121. So the error doesn't exceed 2 nautical miles, 2.3 sm. There are some rare special cases that require a slight change in procedure but when the special procedures are followed the accuracy of the computed altitude remains within 2 minutes of arc.
