I agree with Murray on most of his points. This is a genaric copy of a better compass. For orienteering/Land Navigation the name brand versions work quite well. Great compasses with a tried and true design. The "adjustable declination" described here simply allows you to dial out local magnetic deviation. After the compass is adjusted you can read "true" azimuths directly off the compass. It saves you a couple seconds of mental arithmatic when your plotting that azimuth onto your map. For marine use/cel nav they are of little to no worth.
