Dan, I tried transparency film and found that it is really thick stuff. Food cling wrap is much thinner and works fairly well and I recommend that for pellicle replacement.
I did eval a bunch of other things but the cling wrap was top. Within the cling wrap category, "Stretch-Tite" brand is what I ended up deciding was best from a uniformity and clarity perspective.
Get an embroidery loop to stretch it tight and then plop the pellicle frame on it. I recall using white glue.
