I don't have the 1928. How does this section from p.156 of the 1914 Admiralty Manual of Navigation compare?
Here are two methods from the 1928 manual.
I must admit that I have not studied these proofs in any detail but I can relax, knowing that if I wake up in the night desperate to understand the subject I can quickly lay my hands on the information (-;
