I have a beautiful Francis Barker circa 1970s. Works perfectly, but as most others, the Vernia is difficult to read sometimes. I generally get to within 1-2', but I'm never confident due to the Vernia scale reading. Bill Morris site has it all. I got mine to re-enact the Chichester Tasman flight. Why he used a box, I cannot say. I love mine ,but no way is it easier to use for accurate, quick work than the full sized sextant. If I was doing the Tasman crazy trip (which I never would!) I would definitely take a normal sextant, even on a small plane. What does Gary think? But I have never seen this model on e-bay. Where are you going to get it from? I have a small 19th century pocket Troughton and Sims, it seems to be smaller than this one, and with vernier scale instead of the drum, and it gives excellent results. And it really fits in a pocket. BTW I bought it on e-bay several years ago for a very moderate price. Alex. : http://fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx/Advice-Box-Sextant-Eremenko-mar-2017-g38618
