Martin.
The x6 and x7 optics are best for ship use with stable heights of eye around 30 meters. The 4x40mm Frieberger has a different mount vs Tamaya and Plaths so can't be swapped to other sextants. My favorite bubble octant is the very ugly US Navy Mark V which has a way to use the natural horizon as well as a bubble. The bubble horizon is no good for sea duty but works well on land or from an aircraft. Whole horizons do well with bright bodies. A dim star such as Polaris is best observed with a split horizon mirror.
