I was suprised at how quickly the sun moves in the mid afternoon. I set the sextant to maximum and thought I had about 15 minutes until the images touched. I decided to see if both images were visible so casually picked up the sextant. Not only could I see both images but they were a sun's diameter apart!!!!! I continued observing and within a few minute the limbs touched.
Is there any combination of optics that could be used to take a noon sight at this time of year at lat 41S with an AH?
