You mentioned flying on Bristol Freighters and later P3 Orions. I'm familiar with the P3. Although it still has propellers that's a high-performance and fundmanetally modern airplane. But a Bristol Freighter? I had to look that up! That must have been a revolutionary change for you. Did those airplanes fill the same maritime surveillance role of the later P3? And was the big unpressurized cargo space of the Bristol Freighter used for anything? Did you carry sonobuoys or similar that you could roll out the back or something like that?!

Great. You specifically recall using H.O. 249 then. Could you tell me what decade that was? Or maybe better, when was the transition to the P3?
