You are assuming that the system is set up to provide information to people like yourselves who understand these things (-; To misquote a NZ Prime Minister most people would not recognise a loxodrome [1] if they fell over one. Most passengers are probably happy to see an aircraft at the approximately correct location between departure and arrival airports.
Is it a dead reckoning type system? For example Flightradar24 has a DR mode although it is often obvious when the aircraft you are tracking has been switched to this mode.
