Nine years ago, I took a sunsight from a tiny island in the southeast corner of Sweden overlooking the south Baltic.
Here the “facts”:
Position from chart: Lat N 56° 03,9′ Long E 15° 44,0′
Date: 2005 07 07 (yyyy mm dd). Time UT: 11 03 22
GHA (hours) = 343° 46,3′. GHA (minutes and seconds) = 00° 50,5′
Declination = N 22° 32,9′ (d=-0,3)
True altitude = 59° 29,0′
I intended to try both the NASR tables and the HO249 tables (Air, Rapid … whatever) and therefore chose an even degree of latitude - in this case 56°. When choosing a fitting longitude to get an even local hour angle I found to my surprise …… what?
