Hmmm, I'll make a fool of myself:
- although a full eclipse is seen from somewhat wide band, you should be able to get you approximate lat/lon ovserver position from it
- both the sun and moon have the same Dec and GHA at the moment of totality
- water reflection is like an artificial horizon. Use sextant, to measure, take half and use Dec of either body to get approximate latitude
- GMT of this eclipse is the observers approximate longitude though it wont be precise
