    Thank you for the nice article, it indeed clears a lot of questions.

    Just to finalise: the integrator's degrees scale is coupled with its' minutes scale (via 1:5 gear ratio?) while both are forced to rotate under the control of the roller's tilt (which in turn depends on drum's offset).

    Not quite clear why the averager may be connected to the drum only at integer degrees - rather than at any angle? What if a star may be aligned with the bubble at, say, 30' ? The drum then must be turned either way by half-degree before the averager may be engaged - thus introducing an angle error which is not actually there. That error would build-up to a bigger value over the integration interval.
