    Krasavcev formula (6) is identical to the one I gave, but I do not agree with book's statement "It can be seen from this that the correction value increases with the angle". That depends entirely on the value of P (or R as in Frank's post). If the arm's axis is displaced e.g. towards P=300° then the correction has a maximum at sextant reading 60° and goes back to zero at sextant reading 120°. If P=110°, the correction is negative between 0° and 80°, with a "max neg" at 40°, then positive and with a max at 120°. The actual sextant with P=22° shows indeed a nearly straight line correction, giving the impression that the scale is swollen.
