Anchor story- My old CQR anchor, and its 15-fathom length of chain, was starting to get rusty, so it was about time for another re-galvanising (third time, I think). The firm that I had chosen informed me that their minimum charge corresponded to a weight of 80 kilograms, so I had balanced a box, teetering on the bathroom scales, into which I was loading the ground-tackle, to check how close it came to that limit. Which gave my dear wife an opportunity to inspect the proceedings, then make a remark about "weighing the anchor".
