    Anomalous dip
    From: Alexandre Eremenko
    Date: 2006 Jun 24, 08:35 -0400

The observation I reported earlier this month
in Kielerforde had a systematic error of -3.5'
Now I have to agree with George's explanation
that this was the case of anomalous dip.

By now I tested my new pocket sextant
(see the next message) enough, so that the
anomalous dip remains the only explanation.
I also tested my position by a good nautical map.

So a combination of cold water and hot air
can really give such errors, at least in Kielerforde.

    Alex
