Weather patterns may not be simplistic at all. As an example, there may be one wind blowing in one direction high up, and another blowing in another direction, for other reasons, at the earth's surface. That often is the case here. My other thought is that even a large mill would have only a very small and localised influence on the grand scheme of things.
