I've used the Sight Calc app many times. It performs the Law of Cosines calculation. It's easier (for me at least) than using a programmable calculator. The engineers among us may not agree.

I'm thinking changing to Android but here are some iphone apps that are worthwhile or have at least survived on my 'phone for a few years:-
Astronav - sextant that plots LOP - interesting.
Astrolabe - mini planisphere and free - excellent.
Skytime/Astroclock - UT/Sideral/Julian time/date. free
Sunrise clock / Sunseeker lite - where's the Sun!
Moon / Live Moon - where's the Moon.
Planisphere - what it says.
Planet Finder
Sightcalc - looks useful for checking sights but I've never actually used it.
Hope some of these are useful.
